Lafitte, La. - The grim weather forecast for the first day of the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup event out of Lafitte, La. proved to be everything it promised relative to wind. Fortunately for the 100 teams entered, the forecast also promised sun and delivered as team after team brought hefty bags of redfish to the scales.
Heavy east and southeast winds approaching 30 mph didn't deter the Lake Charles, LA father and son team of Cajun Phil and Kevin Broussard from taking the lead with a monstrous 16.83 bag.
LAFITTE, La. – On a day that threatened to be washed out altogether, a local team whitewashed the competition, obliterating the single-day record weight of the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup in the process.
Lafitte guides Alden Bourgeois and Todd Dufour teamed up to weigh a staggering 18.64 pounds and vaulted 54 spots in the standings as thunderstorms danced around them.
