Day One - Day One Leaders

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Translated from Spanish to English, Punta Gorda essentially means fat point. It does not mean fat fish, especially for most of the 89 teams of anglers competing on the first day of the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup event on Friday.

While 11 of the two-man teams failed to weigh in a single fish, locals Danny Latham and Mike Friday led a group of 22 teams topping 10 pounds. Latham and Friday's two-fish limit weighed 14.89 pounds and leads the second-place team of Bryan and Greg Watts by more than two pounds.

Day Two - Watts Brothers Strike Again

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. --- Thunder and lightning. Greg and Bryan Watts showed they were the storm brewing Saturday in the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup event in Punta Gorda.

With a thunderstorm approaching behind the weigh-in stage at Punta Gorda's Laishley Park, the Wattses weighed in 12.16-pound bag for a two-day total of 25.02. After Friday's 12.86 bag, the brothers lead the final five qualifiers into Sunday's championship day where they vie for the $40,000 first prize.

Day Three - Former Plain Shirt Guys Take the Cup

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Al Keller and Bill Faulkner finally broke through.

The former "plain shirt" guys went up against the big names of the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup circuit on their home waters and took the Eastern OPEN in Punta Gorda on Sunday with a final day weight of 12.69 pounds.
